Statement of Faith

Messianic Meow Statement of Faith

We, the staff of The Messianic Meow, believe in The Father (Genesis 1:1), The Son (John 14:6), and The Ruach HaKodesh/Holy Spirit (Acts 2). We believe Yeshua (Jesus) is The Son of God and was sent to die for our sins (John 3:16). We believe Yeshua did not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17-18).

We believe in The Gifts of The Ruach HaKodesh (1 Corinthians 12: 4-11), including the Gift of Creative Communication. In fact, The Messianic Meow would not exist, were it not for said Spiritual Gift.

We believe that Gentiles have a right to practice Messianic Judaism (Ephesians 2:11-22).

We consider ourselves to be Messianic Jews and are not affiliated with the Hebrew Roots, Karaite, Two House, or Black Hebrew Movements.

We do not pronounce or try to pronounce the Tetragrammaton (יהוה). The Torah does not have vowels in it, and the exact pronunciation of God’s name was lost in translation a long time ago. If you were to transliterate יהוה into English it would be ‘YHVH.’ There is no “W” sound in Hebrew, nor is there a “J” sound. Therefore, even though we do not know the exact pronunciation, we know that it is impossible that it would be pronounced as Yahweh or Jehovah. You wouldn’t like it if people pronounced your name incorrectly, and we give the same respect to God’s name. Instead of trying to make up a pronunciation, we just say, “Adonai,” which means “My Lord.” When you see “Lord” or “My Lord” in the English translations of the Bible, it is because it was originally יהוה and we do not know how to pronounce it.

Our favorite Bible translation is the TLV, and anything from outside of the Bible cannot be taken as law (Revelation 22:18). This is including, but not limited to Kabbalah, the Talmud, the Quran, the Book of Mormon, the Watchtower, the Catholic Canon, Astrology, Wicca, Tarot Cards, and Psychics.
